Why should I do the course?
Travelling is an important part of our health, wellbeing and independence, but it requires us to think differently about our safety than we might at home. There is no evidence that older people are at any more risk whilst travelling than other age groups, but every age group faces a unique set of risks, and older people are no exception.
This course will help you identify when and where you are at risk while travelling, and will give you the tools and confidence to manage those risks. Even experienced travellers can benefit from a reminder of best practices.
What does it cover?
The course covers six key areas of travel safety- Understanding Your Travel Risks, Pre-Travel Planning, Travel Health & Wellbeing, Safe Travel & Transportation, Safe Accommodation and When Something Goes Wrong- and takes around 2 hours to complete.
How do I take the course?
All you need is a computer, tablet or smartphone and an internet connection! You can also download the Safer Edge Learn app for iOS (Apple iPhones) or Android.
Your place will be saved as you progress through the course, so you can complete as much or as little at a time as you want. You have a year to complete the course.
